The western provinces in Vietnam are also known as the Mekong Delta (Cuu Long Delta). The full name must be the Southwest region but people often call it the West. This region includes 12 provinces and 1 center city namely An Giang, Bac Lieu, Ben Tre, Ca Mau, Dong Thap, Hau Giang, Kien Giang, Long An, Soc Trang, Tien Giang, Tra Vinh, Vinh Long and Can Tho. 
 

HOW TO GET THERE

Airlines: Can Tho airport is the biggest airport in the Mekong River Delta which from there, it is quite easy to catch a bus or a coach to visit any province. 
Buses: In the West station, located at 395 Kinh Duong Vuong, An Lac ward, Binh Tan district, HCM city, tickets for buses to any Western provinces are available
Motobikes: If you depart from Sai Gon, motobike will be a convenient as you can stop at any time you want in order not to miss any intersting destination. 
 

BEST TIME TO VISIT MEKONG RIVER DELTA 

The climate in the Mekong Delta is temperate with sunny all year round which is suitable to visit at any time. Each season, the region brings its own special things.
  • Summer, from June to August, is the time for fruits to ripe, so if you want to discover those fruit gardens, summer is the ideal time. 
  • Between December and November, the region experiences its floating season when water floods all the fields, visiting the West in this season, you may not have chance to visit so many places, but on some floating days, there would be some amazing things to do. 
  • From December to February, Tet holiday is comming closely. Visiting this region, you can go to visit some very famous flower gardens like Sa Dec, Tau Quy Dong, Vi Thanh and so on.
