The area of Cho Lon is often called as China Town – the familiar name that the locals in Saigon talk about the Chinese community living in district 5, 6 and 11 but mainly in district 5. Cho Lon was founded in 1778 which is considered the largest gathering place for Chinese community living and working in Vietnam. Until now, it remains an attractive destination for visitors desiring for discovering the culture of the Chinese.

At present, China Town in Saigon is the place where the cultural, architectural and religious values brought along by the Chinese remain intact by the time. You will see many tiled roof, temples, and assembly halls in the typical architecture of China which are attractive in ancient beauty.

Serving as not only the complex of ancient architectural constructions, Cho Lon is also a large and busy trading center, providing various types of goods for all the district in Saigon. If you pay attention, you will find that different types of products are presented for sales at different streets. Not many people know that there is no less Korean people living in Vietnam than the Japanese and Chinese. However, they do not gather in the same street as Chinese or Japanese but are allocated on the streets nearby the airport including Super Bowl, K300 or Phan Van Hai Street in Tan Binh District. One of the most crowded areas for Koreans is in Phu My Hung in district 7.

The little Korean Town is not as outstanding as other town of foreigners in Saigon, but it is easy to be identified with name boards in both Korean and Vietnamese. District 7 is also the place where many shops for materials, grocery from Korea are concentrated. Korean restaurants, hair salons, beauty salons or department stores are also available there. You can even see some shuttle buses with titles in Korean and some schools opened for Korean children.
