Have you ever been to the Little Japan Town in the center of Saigon? Nestled in the area around Le Thanh Tong and Thai Van Lung Streets in the center of the city, the town is the complex of over 80 restaurants, spa and business houses of Japanese community living in Vietnam. The town has attracted not only the locals but also tourists wishing to discover the cuisine culture of Japan.

One of the most significant differences between the Little Japan Town and other foreigner towns is the lack of vivid and exciting images and atmosphere. In Little Japan Town, you will feel the warm that is typical for the Japanese culture.

Those cultural features are shown in the closed windows made of wood; the curtains or lanterns in 3 typical colors of red, black and white. The quiet space makes this town attractive, fascinating to visitors, especially at night.

The area of Cho Lon is often called as China Town – the familiar name that the locals in Saigon talk about the Chinese community living in district 5, 6 and 11 but mainly in district 5. Cho Lon was founded in 1778 which is considered the largest gathering place for Chinese community living and working in Vietnam. Until now, it remains an attractive destination for visitors desiring for discovering the culture of the Chinese.

At present, China Town in Saigon is the place where the cultural, architectural and religious values brought along by the Chinese remain intact by the time. You will see many tiled roof, temples, and assembly halls in the typical architecture of China which are attractive in ancient beauty.

Serving as not only the complex of ancient architectural constructions, Cho Lon is also a large and busy trading center, providing various types of goods for all the district in Saigon. Dubbed as the sleepless town in Saigon, the Western town serves mainly for the demands of foreign visitors, especially those from the Western countries. The town is then the gathering place of a number of hotels, restaurants, travel agents, bars, pubs, souvenir shops and so on. In addition, the service of bike and motorbike for rent at appropriate price is a bonus of the town which give tourists more options to discover the little lanes and corners of Saigon.

It is also a fact that the cuisine in this town is very diverse, from traditional Vietnamese foods to Asian and European foods served at various types of restaurants in the town.  

Not many people know that there is no less Korean people living in Vietnam than the Japanese and Chinese. However, they do not gather in the same street as Chinese or Japanese but are allocated on the streets nearby the airport including Super Bowl, K300 or Phan Van Hai Street in Tan Binh District. One of the most crowded areas for Koreans is in Phu My Hung in district 7.

The little Korean Town is not as outstanding as other town of foreigners in Saigon, but it is easy to be identified with name boards in both Korean and Vietnamese. District 7 is also the place where many shops for materials, grocery from Korea are concentrated. Korean restaurants, hair salons, beauty salons or department stores are also available there. You can even see some shuttle buses with titles in Korean and some schools opened for Korean children.
