Binh Thuy Ancient House in The West of Vietnam

Coming to the Southwestern land, in addition to experiences in Cai Rang floating market, and walking on Ninh Kieu wharf… visitors can not miss the opportunity to visit Binh Thuy ancient house which is over 100 years old, used to be the context of a lot of famous films.
 
Binh Thuy ancient house now is used for worship the Duong family, it was built at the first time in 1870 and rebuilt in the early of 20th century. This superficial house is located on Bui Huu Nghia Street, Binh Thuy district, Can Tho province. Stepping over the strong gate made from iron and concrete based on French edifice’s style, you will see an auxiliary entrance built in the style of oriental architecture with four circular columns, attached a plate "Phuoc An Hieu” in front of.
 
Overview of Binh Thuy ancient house 
 
The owner of this house is Mr. Duong Chan Ky - a wealthy intellectual businessman, as well as an artistic landowner. He loves to explore new things from Western prevalent trends, especially in the field of architecture. Therefore, visitors can realize the harmonious combination of the Eastern and Western culture
 
The ancient house is surrounded by many trees and flowers in all four seasons, which makes space ancient as available, but lively and refreshing. To enter the house, visitors must go through an elegant patterned bow-shape stair connecting the house and the yard. Even when standing inside the yard and looking at the front of Binh Thuy house, visitors are impossible not to admire the subtle patterns decorated on the columns, iron arch, surfaced patterns.
 
The special architecture of the old house 
 
This architecture of this place combines the styles of the Eastern and Western culture, in the form of “reinforcing internal style as well as combining external style”. That means its nature is appropriate to traditional art and the oriental culture, and the outside is appropriate to the Occidental architecture and nature landscape. The house is outstanding by three beautiful antique furniture and a small mahogany bed decorated with mosaics carved exquisitely and the skilled contours. 
 
Furniture of the house
 
The front house is divided into five spaces for welcoming guests in the important ceremonies, decorated in the style of the west. The floor is tiled with marbles imported from France, patterned plafond is on the ceiling. The antique warehouses of the house also contains of beautiful furniture such as a chandelier in 18th century or a pair of chandelier in 19th century. 

The worship house of the Duong family is the classic and valuable architectural construction, which was ranked as a national relic. Although the building is influenced by Western art, it still keeps its own ethnic traditions.

Binh Thuy ancient house is famous in both domestic and abroad due to being the main context of tens of films showed on the screen including Nhung Neo Duong Phu Sa, Nguoi Dep Tay Do, A debt to life. Referring to Nguoi Tinh (The Lover), this place is used as a substitute context for Huynh Thuy Le’s famous house in Sa Dec 

 

Ticket price to visit Binh Thuy ancient house

If you just stand outside campus to visit, it's free. But if you go inside the house you have to pay VND 15,000 for the manager there.
