Nam Dam Village in Hagiang

About 2km far from Quan Ba center, both scenery and people here are very traditional. The roofs covered with yin-yang tiles are imprinted color of time, nestled at the mountain foot. The old clay walls reflect the golden lights in the early morning or late afternoon ... All of them weave up one distinct and unfamiliar Nam Dam.

The village has totally 51 households, in which nearly 20 households do business of homestay service. Viewing from half way up the mountain, before coming in the village, we saw many lovely houses laying along the valley. We selected Mr Ly Dai Xuyen’s house, Cell’s secretary of the village as well as chief manager of Nam Dam tourism, to learn about the customs and traditions of the locals. No sooner had he said good bye to Far East Tour’s visitors group than his family was hurry to welcome some French tourists right from head of lane, after greeting some words, when visitors already sat down comfortably to drink water, he opened the book written feedbacks of tourists about his family’s homestay service to show us: "Only if they feel satisfied, we will be comfortable; if not, my wife will be restless for a few days.

Nam Dam cultural village of community tourism is known by traditionally folk songs such as duet songs , expressing love songs, songs for wedding ... of Dzao people; as well as some typical festivals as Cap Sac festival (to recognize that a boy becomes a men), festival of worshiping new crop, etc...Here, visitors will be enjoyed lots of local dishes made by the native.

Besides, the locals here also do sewing pattern on traditional costumes. They sew by themselves clothes with unique patterns decorated harmoniously on women’s dress, as well as with silver jewelry composing of ear-ring, necklace, bracelet, and scarf wrapping head to make Dzao woman different.

Going deeply into the village, every families are very clean from inside house to outside lane. Secondary structure is modern. Any household doing tourism business also hangs the sign “Homestay” right on gate to welcome tourists at any time. In the traditional houses, owners only need buying more mats, blankets and pillows, repair or rebuild toilets area ... to be ready to invite tourists to stay in their own home.

In addition to good staying service, visitors are also satisfied with served-in-need meals. They are mainly cheap dishes of the locals: vegetables cultivated in field, fishes raised in pond, chickens and pigs fed by themselves, along with other traditional dishes. They are very simple but impressive on visitors. Through such meals, tourists and local people become closer and better understand each other, at the same time, visitors can find clearly the simple and peaceful life of native ethnics.

Homestay service helps Nam Dam change the look, the locals here are now doing and continue doing homestay service to preserve traditional culture and make their lives better. The image of foreign visitors drinking water, talking under Mr Duyen’s house are good signals of a new direction for tourism development, it is sustainable and expected to be an tourism attraction for travelers.
