Cai Be floating market 

Cai Be floating market in Cai Be town, Tien Giang province is located on Tien River which is the junction point between Tien Giang, Vinh Long and Ben Tre provinces. This is one of the biggest wholesale markets in the Southwest area. A variety of products are traded here including clothes, housewares, poultry, seafood or foods and drinks. The market seems to be most famost for serving as the largest fruit market in Tien Giang with some renowed names like Lo Ren star apple, green grapefruit, Tan Lap pineapple, orange, grapefruit, Cai Be tangerine and so on. Long Xuyen floating market

Long Xuyen floating market is on Hau River, My Phuoc ward, Long Xuyen city, An Giang province. This is the gathering place of hndreds of boats and ships trading and making a living all year round. The main products traded here include agricultural products like vegetables, cucumbers, tomatoes, cabbages, pumpkins, potatoes and some famous street foods of Tien Giang like fish noodle, Banh Tam or pig skin cakes.

Best time to visit  floating market

  • To fully admire the beauty of Cai Rang floating market and to feel all the lively atmosphere of the floating market,you must come early.
  • The best time to go to the floating market is at 5:30 am (the sooner the better, you can both visit the floating market and watch the sunrise on the land of Tay Do), at this time the sun is rising so the view of Can Tho river is charming.

It is very interesting ideas how to run the market on the river .with a lot of different varieties of vegetables , meats , seafod from different shops . the market run so well . nice to se vietnamese cullture in different ways But note the market close very early , you must arrive it early morning 5 -6 am to see nice crowded after 8am .wink

We experienced this as part of an overnight Mekong cruise and found it quite fascinating to see the vendors selling their produce in very large quantities to buyers rafted along side the floating market boats. Each boat has their "wares" hoisted on their masts as "advertising". A unique experience if one has never seen a floating market especially as this deals exclusively in large wholesale produce of pretty much every sort. smiley

We booked a tour to visit Mekong delta. It includes a friendly English speaking tour guide, transport from HCMC to Cai Be pier, boat tour around the delta, lunch, a bike ride, bamboo boat ride, and traditional singing performance, etc. My favorite parts were the boat ride around Mekong delta and the bamboo boat ride. Thought we arrived late and could not see much of the floating market, the floating village itself is interesting enough. Photos taken are spectacular!
